Medicine and disease subdue each other. The whole earth is medicine. Where do you find yourself?
McSweeney’s
Of Plague and Plenty
My essay, “Of Plague and Plenty,” was published in McSweeney’s for the “Flattened by the Curve” series, which features the voices of doctors, nurses, healthcare workers, and others on the front lines against COVID-19.
This essay was developed during a free writing and photography workshop offered by Teju Cole to essential workers around the world.
Chautauqua Journal
Wild Tithe, an excerpt from Kinship Medicine
A longer version of “Wild Tithe” appears in The Chautauqua Journal, an annual journal that embodies a sense of inquiry into questions of personal, social, political, spiritual, and aesthetic importance—and when, where, and how those values and questions intersect.

My Activist Writing
Invite me to write an op-ed or blog post for your organization
I have been invited to write op-eds and blog posts for organizations including We The People Detroit, Ohio Policy Matters and the City of Santa Fe on issues as diverse as a justice and public health approach to the opioid epidemic, the effect of water shut offs on public health in Detroit, and a model program to protect the homeless from the COVID-19 epidemic.
